Exhibition opening Forced Recruits 2
Kindly welcome to the opening of the exhibition Forced Recruits 2 on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 6 pm at the Khislstein Castle, Tomšičeva 44, 4000 Kranj.
More than 12,000 people from Gorenjska and Koroška were forcibly mobilized into the German army in the WW2, and more than two thousand lost their lives there.
The Second Repetition of the ExhibitionSoldier by force 2 cannot say everything that has to be said about the great theme of World War II and of the second Yugoslavia. In the three decades since the first exhibition, many books of memoirs have been published and many statements by forced mobilizers have been recorded, some scientific articles have been published, a documentary has been broadcast, and more could be enumerated. In 2001, Jože Dežman collected available, especially diaries and memorial records of forced mobilizers, into an anthropological sketch of a generation. Then Monika Kokalj Kočevar took over the scientific treatment of the Gorenjska forced mobilizers and partially concluded it with a doctoral thesis and its book publication in 2017. She collected supporting objects, documents and photographs from her collections. Available resources for the Carinthian mobilizers were collected by Marjan Linasi. As a collector and researcher, Uroš Košir presents both the typical equipment of units with Slovenian mobilizers and a valuable collection of objects, documents and photographs, illustrating the living conditions and destinies of forced mobilizers.
KINDLY INVITED
