The Lojze Dolinar Gallery in the Town Hall presents the work of an artist whose sculptures and monuments left their mark across Slovenia and the former Yugoslavia. Dolinar (1893–1970) worked in a range of styles – from academic realism and Art Nouveau to the striking monumental sculpture for which he is best known.
His artistic oeuvre includes portraits, nudes, architectural sculpture, public monuments and chamber pieces. Among his best-known works are numerous monuments created between the wars and after the Second World War; the peak of his later career is the Monument to the Revolution in Kranj.

After retiring, the artist moved to Kranj and gave the town a significant part of his prints and sculptures. In 1966 a gallery opened in the Town Hall that today holds his precious artistic legacy and offers insight into the work of one of the most prominent Slovenian sculptors of the last century.
Visit the gallery and discover the oeuvre of an artist whose works permanently shaped Slovenian public space and greatly enriched Kranj’s cultural heritage.
