Everything you need for your visit to Kranj and the Gorenjska Museum
What if Gorenjska and Kranj told you their story?
Not the one from textbooks. The one that hides behind castle walls, in burgher houses, among archaeological finds, works of art, and objects that once meant the world to someone.
Walk through our exhibition spaces, discover, pause, and wonder. Get to know Gorenjska through its people, their lives, their creativity, and the traces they left behind.

The Gorenjska Museum has five sites in Kranj: Khislstein Castle, Prešeren’s House, the Town Hall, the Ossuary and the Gallery of Prešeren Award Winners.
Visitors with reduced mobility
The museum collections are housed in historic buildings whose architecture limits adaptations. Khislstein Castle is currently fully accessible to visitors with reduced mobility; at the other sites, ground-floor exhibition spaces can be visited.
Groups
For school and other organised groups we offer guided tours and tailored programmes. To book a slot call 051 615 388, or email ana.debeljak@gorenjski-muzej.si

How to find us
Most Gorenjska Museum sites are in Kranj’s historic centre, only a few minutes’ walk from each other.
By car
Take the A2 motorway to Kranj (exit Kranj East or Kranj West). Near the old town centre there are several public car parks (we recommend Čebelica car park). From the car park it is only a short walk to the museum sites. At weekends parking is free all day; on weekdays the first two hours are free.
By bus
Kranj’s main bus station is about a 10-minute walk from the town centre. Regular bus services run from Ljubljana and other Gorenjska tourist destinations.
By train
Kranj railway station is about a 15-minute walk from the town centre and is well connected with Ljubljana, Jesenice and other places.
